INFORMATION ABOUT CHEVROLET TRAX
The Chevrolet Trax is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by Chevrolet since 2013. The car is based on the GM Gamma II platform, which is shared with the Chevrolet Aveo/Sonic, as well as the Opel Mokka/Buick Encore.
HISTORY
- 2012 version
The concept was first unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with the final model unveil having happened at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.
It was then available for test driving at the 2013 Montreal Auto Show, with four essay models shown.
- 2013-2014 version
During 2013 and early 2014, it was only sold in Canada, Mexico, Germany, South Korea, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Europe. It was also marketed as the Holden Trax in Australia, and as the Chevrolet Tracker in Russia and South America.
In late 2014, the Trax was marketed to more countries adding China, Indonesia and the Philippines.
- 2015 version
The Trax came to the United States as a 2015 model, buoyed by the success of the Buick Encore (the Trax and Encore share the GM Gamma II platform) and possible competition from the Jeep Renegade; GM initially had no plans to offer the Trax to the US market. The US-market Trax is largely unchanged from the global version, but has some US-specific features including OnStar with AT&T 4G LTE and SiriusXM satellite radio.
- 2017 facelift version
Chevrolet performed a mid-cycle update on the Trax for the 2017 model year, first unveiled at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show on February 12, 2016. The updated Trax carried Chevrolet’s Corvette-inspired design cues from the Malibu and Volt, including new halogen projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, dual taillights and a new grille design.
A set of 18-inch aluminum wheels are offered on the Premier model trim. The interior is also redesigned with a new dashboard and center instrument panel. Overall, the 2017 facelift improves the Trax’s perceived quality.
CHEVROLET TRAX’S MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Chevrolet recommends that you bring your Trax in for scheduled maintenance every 7,500 miles. This means your first maintenance visit will be at 7,500 miles, with subsequent visits at 15,000 miles, 22,500 miles, 30,000 miles and so on.
These are some of the services that will be performed by the service technicians during different scheduled maintenance visits:
- 7,500 Miles
At 7,500 miles, the technicians will check the engine oil. They may change the oil or fill the oil level. If the air filter needs replacing, they’ll change it. They’ll check the Trax’s restraint system, as well as the fuel system. Additionally, the service technicians will check the tires for proper inflation and any wear, and check the ignition transmission lock, the automatic transmission shift lock and the accelerator pedal.
- 15,000 Miles
At 15,000 miles, in addition to the standard maintenance service performed at 7,500 miles, the windshield wipers will need replacement.
- 22,500 Miles
At this milestone, the service technicians will perform the same services as the 7,500-mile service and they’ll replace the passenger compartment air filter.
- 30,000 Miles
The 30,000-mile maintenance visit is the same as a the 15,000-mile maintenance visit.
- 37,000 Miles
The 37,000-mile maintenance visit is the same as the 7,500-mile visit.
- 45,000 Miles
At 47,000 miles, in addition to the services of the 7,500-mile visit, the technicians will replace the passenger compartment air filter, inspect the evaporative control system and replace the engine air cleaner filter.
Note: When you need an oil change, don’t put it off for more than 600 miles. Your engine needs to stay lubricated to run properly. Delaying an oil change can cause damage to the engine.
