MORE INFORMATION ABOUT CHEVROLET TAHOE
The Chevrolet Tahoe (and its badge engineered GMC Yukon counterpart) is a full-size SUV from General Motors. Chevrolet and GMC sold two different-sized SUVs under their Blazer/Jimmy model names through the early 1990s.
The Tahoe is sold in North America, parts of Asia such as the Middle East, plus other countries including Bolivia, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Angola as a left-hand drive vehicle. The Yukon is only sold in North America and the Middle East.
The Tahoe’s main competition comes from the Ford Expedition, but it also competes with the Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada.
The Tahoe has regularly been the best selling full-size SUV in the United States, frequently outselling its competition by 2 to 1.
HISTORY
- First generation (1992)
The Tahoe/Yukon were shorter than the Suburban on which they were based, but shared that vehicle’s GMT400 platform. This was a true truck chassis, and was based on that used in the Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup truck.
Both two-door and four-door models were produced in rear- and four-wheel drive. The two-door weighs roughly 4,500 lb (2,041 kg) while the four-door weighs approximately 5,500 lb (2,495 kg).
The two-door rode a six-inch shorter wheelbase than the four-door. “AutoTrac” full-time all-wheel drive and a programmable Homelink transmitter were added for 1998.
- Second generation (2000)
Other than the Tahoe Limited Edition, the vehicle was redesigned and launched in March 2000 for the 2000 model year on the new GMT800 platform, still shared with the full-sized pickups and SUVs.
Two new engines replaced the old Chevy 5.7 L (350 cu in) small-block V8, and while both were smaller, both produced more horsepower but less torque.
Both vehicles received significant updates with only the grille, headlights and body-side moldings distinguishing one from the other. Both vehicles now featured softer lines as part of a more aerodynamic design. The interior was also updated with new seats, dashboard, and door panels.
- Third generation (2007)
General Motors redesigned the Tahoe and Yukon on the new GMT900 platform in late 2005 as a 2007 model. A hybrid version of the Tahoe/Yukon, which uses the shared GM/Chrysler Advanced Hybrid System 2, followed with the 2008 models.
For the first time, GM used the Tahoe name in Mexico.
- Fourth generation (2015)
The 2015 Tahoe was later named the fastest-selling vehicle for February 2014, averaging seven days of sales upon its release.[18] On September 12, 2013, GM released photos and press release of the fourth-generation Tahoe and Yukon.
Like its larger siblings Suburban and Yukon XL, the front fascias of the Tahoe and Yukon are distinct, but from the base of the A-pillars back, they share most of the same styling cues.
- Fifth generation (2021)
On December 10, 2019, Chevrolet introduced a fifth generation Tahoe at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. This time around, GM chose to introduce the Chevrolet full size SUVs first, followed by the GMC Yukon in January 2020 and the Cadillac Escalade in February 2020.
Following the industry shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, the SUVs started production at the Arlington plant on May 18, 2020, and arrived in dealerships in June 2020.
TIPS TO CLEAN YOUR CHEVROLET TAHOE
- Crystal clear windows
Mix a solution of equal parts tap water and distilled white vinegar to get a streak-free shine on all your windows.
Spray, scrub and wipe away the dirt. Spritz the cleaned window with water and dry with a clean cloth.
- Spotless seats
Pet hair and crumbs stick in crevices and cling to cloth seats. Brush your cushions regularly with a rubber squeegee or silicon dish scrubber to collect clumps of hair and the remains of last week’s snacks.
Tuck a dryer sheet under the seat or in a side-door pocket to help keep your car smelling fresh.
To remove smudges from leather seats, put a bit of baking soda on a damp sponge and scrub gently. Rinse the area with a clean, damp sponge and buff with a dry cloth.
- Dazzling dash and doors
Avoid using alcohol- or ammonia-based cleaning products on your dashboard or doors, as these can wreak havoc on the materials. Instead, fill a spray bottle with a diluted 4-to-1 mixture of warm water and a gentle shampoo and spray it on a soft microfiber cloth.
For those hard-to-reach places like your air vents or around your door handles, use a dampened sponge paintbrush or cotton swab. To touch up between cleanings, wipe your dash with a dryer sheet to help pick up and prevent dust.
- Noticeably neat nooks and crannies
Don’t let the grime stuck around your instrument panel or door handles stress you out. Gently press an electronics-safe cleaning slime on dirty areas and watch as the debris is lifted away.
Note: It’s a good practice to test all cleaning products you use on your car in an inconspicuous area first.
- Incredibly clean cupholders
If your cupholders are coated in crumbs or sticky residue, spray them with the soapy cleaning solution you prepared for your dash and doors. Let it soak in for a few minutes, then use an old kitchen sponge to scrub away the gunk.
Spray again and dry with a microfiber cloth. Drop in an easy-to-clean silicone cupcake liner to keep your holders tidy and looking fresh.
